Good news and bad news about the Quarry. First the good news. After publishing the Fall issue of Local, the Developer agreed to waive the OMB hearing in favour of a few more months of talks with the City of Toronto and Concerned Citizens of the Quarry Lands. The hope was that this was a sign that the Developer wanted to deal.
The bad news is that since the end of November, dumptrucks have been attacking the Quarry from its far east end and filling in the divit which was once apparently full of water and which is more recently widely used by local kids who get very creative with jumps in that divit for their dirt bikes. It makes me sick to see the trucks in there covering over healthy trees with sand for what reason??? The answer may be even worse than the trucks. We’re getting more information for you and will keep you posted.
