Ever since I first saw a Kiteboarder, I’ve been in love with the sport. Last year, for our second issue of Local, I wanted to do a story about kiteboarding and started interviewing for the article that only came to fruition a year later. What was the hold up? Trying to get photos of these guys who literally follow the wind. Tough to line up a volunteer photographer when mother nature is setting the schedule. Enter Jay Newman, the man behind the lens for nearly all of this issue’s photos (the not so good ones are mine 
). Not only is Jay a great photographer, he’s also a kiteboarder so we interviewed him for the story. He gets most of his shots when he’s knee deep in the water and because he knows the sport, he knows what he’s looking for. Anyway, hopefully one day I’ll have the nerve to get out there and give this sport a try because my goodness does it ever look like fun. Beautiful too. We bet you’ll agree.
