Feb 24, 2012	Unsigned #21 Unsigned #21 February 24th, 2012 Steam Whistle is an active supporter of independent Canadian musicians and the microbrewery’s UNSIGNED concert series is now in fifth year running. The February 24^th show hosted in the brewery’s Beer Hall will feature an album release for Boys Who Say No, Indie rockers The Paint Movement, and a solo set from Luke Lalonde of the Born Ruffians. Doors open at 8pm and tickets are only $5 at the door with all proceeds from ticket sales going back to the community through the Artists’ Health Centre Foundation. The feedback has been excellent. David has a big presence, a beautiful voice and that mesmerizing Scots charm. Feb 25, 2012	Acoustic Harvest Presents Grit Laskin Acoustic Harvest Presents Grit Laskin February 25th, 2012 Grit is also a very fine musician, not only on guitar but also mandolin, fiddle, bouzouki, concertina and Northumbrian smallpipes. He has performed with The Friends of Fiddlers’ Green for 25 years, as well as playing many solo concerts across the nation. He has four recordings, he has four guitars permanently housed in the Museum of Civilization, he is the 2010 recipient of the Ontario Council of Folk Festival’s Estelle Klein lifetime achievement award, he is the President of Borealis Records as well as being one of the organizers of The Woods Music & Dance Camp and the Canadian Folk Music Awards; he’s also managed to find time to write a novel, “Angel Could Smell The Fire” and a beautifully illustrated book on the Art of Instrument Makers.
